After a traumatic, life changing event, bestselling author, Reredos Roberts, retreated to his fishing cabin to avoid the anxiety of going into public. Books of Life©, is the Second Volume of Reredos Roberts Chronicles©, the follow up manuscript to Lost in Reality©. In similar fashion, Daisy found herself lost and struggling after her newlywed husband had been arrested and detained in an undisclosed location by the seemingly all powerful, Department of Social Standards. Now residing in their recently purchased home in Minneapolis, in a defiant stand, Daisy decides to continue working on her manuscript entitled, Flower in the Thicket©. 

Meanwhile, unaware to the average citizen, the Department of Social Standardsmarches forward with its singular purpose of the dismantling of public libraries. Also, unbeknownst by citizens, a special task force had been created by the government, acting more as mercenaries. This unregulated group, called ‘Match’. Tactics varied, from simple interrogations, to torture. Match’strue mandate, is to uncover and expose the names of citizens with private libraries. Match Will seek out and destroy any and all written materials deemed as ‘Undesirable’. 

Professor Gibbons, a Professor in English Literature at the University of Minnesota, was apprehended and questioned during the sacking of the university’s libraries by Match. In an effort to protect not only himself, but others, Professor Gibbons voluntarily surrendered his personal library. Professor Gibbons, in an effort to warn others, reaches out to other Professors and former students, leading him to contact former student, Reredos Roberts. Horrified to discover that Reredos had been arrested and detained, through much deliberation, Professor Gibbons and Daisy form a group coined as the ‘Saviors of Knowledge’ or the SOK.

SOK’s mission is simple, grow their ranks with likeminded individuals, gather, acquire and preserve books before Match spreads its flame of destruction across the land. During such a mission, SOK encounters another group, dedicated to similar mission, but with a completely different agenda. The leader of the group, ‘Arm of Artemis’, led by a retired Army General, known only as Artemis. His agenda is simple, collect all books, by any means necessary, before Matchdestroys the knowledge of humanity. Arm of Artemis uses ex-military personnel, employing the vehicle of war, using violence, torture and terrorism against all who oppose them. Artemis’s true objective, isn’t to preserve intellect for humanity, but to control it, living up to his credo; Knowledge is Power.
